For many years I held this to be the greatest work of art of all time in all mediums while knowing that such a title is an impossible exaggeration. However my high opinion of this poem still stands and was what turned me on to [[Edgar Allan Poe|Edgar Allan Poe's]] genius.

The internal rhyme and infernal rhythm of Poe's alliterative poem combined with his effective use of imagery and superb use of language make this dark poem my favorite.
